May 9, 2008



Dr. Zog performed this evening at Sambet's restaurant in Austin, Texas.
Scott Hartzog, Dave McKaye, Gary Feist and I were there to perform three full sets of traditional and original Louisiana Zydeco music for this partying crowd.
We were lucky enough to have special guest, "Bon Ton" Mickey, join us on vocals, accordian and rub board.
It is a treat to play Zydeco music at this traditional Louisiana style restaurant.
Thank goes out to all the staff for the great food.
I had a great time playing a simple small drum kit this evening.
It was great having all the partying people there participating throughout the evening.
We look forward to returning to this great place real soon.

    Dr. Zog performed today at the Sunset Valley Farmer's Market in Austin, Texas.
    Scott Hartzog, Gary Melancon, Dave McKaye, Gary Feist and I were there to perform a full set of original Zydeco music for this South Austin crowd.
    Thanks to the organizers of this event for all the cold drinks on this beautiful Spring day!
    It was cool seeing the Texana Dames, with guitarist John X Reed, perform after our set.

    Dr. Zog performed today at the Zilker Park Clubhouse in Zilker Park in downtown Austin.
    Scott Hartzog, Gary Melancon, Dave McKaye, Tim and I were there to perform three full sets of traditional and original tunes for this crowd.
    This clubhouse has the best view of downtown Austin.
    This was another charity event for a good cause.
    Thanks to all those that organized the evenint
    The drinks and food were great.
    I enjoyed the crawfish!

    Dr. Zog performed today at the Llano Crawfish Festival in Llano, Texas.
    Once again, Scott Hartzog, Gary Melancon, Dave McKaye, Gary Feist and I were there to perform three full sets of traditional and original Zydeco music for this huge crowd... much larger than the day before.
    Doug Moreland and his band performed a great set of tunes after our three sets.Mark Chestnut and his band closed out the day and evening with a great set of all his hits.
    Thanks goes out to all the staff for all the drinks and food.
    I had a great weekend at this festival.

    Dr. Zog performed today at the Llano Crawfish Festival in Llano, Texas.
    Scott Hartzog, Gary Melancon, Dave McKaye, Gary Feist and I were there to perform three full sets of traditional and original Zydeco music for this large crowd.
    Thanks too all the staff for all the drinks and fod.
    The crawfish were excellent!
    Thanks goes out to the sound guys for getting us a huge loud uncontrolable sound!
    The feedback is still ringing in my head!

    Dr. Zog performed today at the M S 150 bicycle race finish line in downtown Austin, Texas.

    Scott Hartzog, Gary Melancon, Dave McKaye, Gary Feist and I were there to perform three full sets of traditional and original Zydeco music.
    This was the finish line for all the cyclists in this 150 mile race.
    What another sight to see.. 14,000 cyclists!
    Once again, this was all for a great cause.

    Dr. Zog performed today at the M S 150 bicycle race midway stopping point held at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange, Texas.
    Scott Hartzog, Gary Melancon, Dave McKaye, Gary Feist and I were there to perform three full sets of traditional and original Zydeco music.
    This was the half way point for all the cyclists in this 150 mile race.
    This was one hot and dusty day at the fairgrounds!
    It was really neat seeing sooo many bicyclists... 14,000 registered!
    All of this was for a great cause.Thanks goes out to all that organized this event.
    The beer and sodas were great!

    Dr. Zog performed this evening at Sambet's restaurant in Austin, Texas.

    Yummy!
    It was great seeing so many friends and fans there to enjoy the food and music.
    It was really cool seeing a childhood friend of mine.
    It's a small world after all!
    We hope to get back to this great lil' place in the near future.

    Dr. Zog performed this morning and afternoon at the Louisiana Swamp Thing Crawfish Festival in Austin, Texas.
    David McKaye, Gary "Pepe" Melancon, Gary Feist and I were there for an all day double header with Scott Hartzog... a.k.a. Dr. Zog.
    Cedryl Ballou & The Zydeco Trendsetters, Dirtfoot, Marcus Ardoin & The Zydeco Legendz, Same Ol' 2 Step, Bryan Jack & The Zydeco Gamblers, Bonerama, Carousel Cabaret, Chubby Carrier & The Bayou Swamp Band, Big Star Burlesque, Cowboy Mouth and George Clinton & Parliament - Funkadelic all performed as well throughout the day at this all day event.
    It was a great day under the sun!
    I had such a great time seeing so many friends.
    It was nice meeting all the wonderful people that I met throughout the day.
    I ended up staying all day watching every act and going home with a sunburn.
    Thanks to all the staff for the drinks.
    I enjoyed eating all the different Cajun dishes that were there at the festival.
    Yummy!
    What a great time!

    Dr. Zog performed this evening at Angel's Icehouse in Spicewood Springs, Texas.
    David McKaye, Gary "Pepe" Melancon, Gary Feist and I were there to rock with Scott Hartzog... a.k.a. Dr. Zog.
    This was our first time to ever perform at this new music venue.
    Thanks to the staff for making us feel right at home.
    We look forward to returning to this club in the near future.

    Bill Rice performed this evening at the Wormy Dog Saloon in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
    Bill Rice, Stephen James, Curtis Roberson and I were there to perform a full one hour set of tunes for this great responsive crowd.
    We were the opening band for Cory Morrow this evening.
    It was great seeing Corey and the rest of the guys in the band.
    Thanks goes out to Steve for being the most professional guy ever to handle the sound.
    Also thanks to all the staff for the beer and shots.
    I had a great time rocking with the guys this evening.
    It was also cool seeing a few friends and familiar faces in the crowd.
    It is always cool to rock out at this great venue.

    Bill Rice performed for the second evening at Redneck Kountry in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
    Bill Rice, Stepehn James, Curtis Roberson and I performed three sets of tunes.
    This was my first time to ever play this wild and crazy bar.
    Thanks to David, once again, for being the great soundman!
    Also, thanks to Sandy, Chris and the rest of the staff for making us feel right at home over the last two nights.

    Bill Rice performed this evening at Billy's Icehouse in New Braunfels, Texas.
    Stephen James, Curtis Roberson and I were there with Bill to play three sets of tunes for this partying crowd.
    This was my first gig with Bill and the guys.
    Everything went off without any hitches.
    I had a great time drumming with the band.

    Dr. Zog performed this afternoon at the Saint Edwards University 2008 Chili-Cook-Off.
    David McKaye, Gary "Pepe" Melancon, Gary Feist and I were there to rock with Scott Hartzog... a.k.a. Dr. Zog.
    The day was beautiful with pleanty of sunshine as we played two sets of Zydeco for the crowd that had gathered on the practice soccer field for this event.
    I had a great time with the guys.
    Thanks to the staff for the soda, water and snacks.
    I enjoyed tasting the vegetarian chili too.



  • January 12, 2008


    "Lost" John Casner performed this evening at Boots Night Club in Bastrop, Texas.
    Karen Hein, Jim Lutz and I were there to support John for the entire evening.
    We performed three full sets for this wild crowd.
    A few scuffles broke out in the bar... one of the craziest nights I have seen in a long time.
    In spite of all the distractions, we continued on and never stopped swingin' the night away.
    Once again, I had a great time playing music with these great musicians.



  • January 5, 2008


    "Lost" John Casner performed this evening at the It's All Good Bar in Cedar Creek, Texas.
    J. C. George, Darryl Jones and I were there to play 3 sets of standard Country & Western Swing.
    It is a treat to play this genre of music.
    Less is more!
    I always enjoy being the "freshman" playing with these "wise" musicians.
    hehehe...
    It is a pleasure.
    Thanks to Richard for assisting with all my drums.
    I look forward to more nights with John and crew.
